Summer in Langley Series - "Adirondacks on Anthes"

You simply cannot miss these two chairs sitting side by side in this flower filled yard on Anthes in Langley. They are so bright red I think they can be seen from space.

Summer in Langley Series - "Fair Trade Flowers"

The flowers were magnificent in the beds in front of Fair Trade Outfitters on Anthes Street in Langley.

MAY DAY!!

Just before I was heading off to bed last night, I realized that in the morning it would be May 1st -- May Day. May Day used to be one of my favorite days when I was a kid because of the May Day door basket custom. We would make cones out of paper doilies, or little baskets woven from strips of colored paper, then fill them with the spring flowers that were coming up in our yards. Then we would sneak around the neighborhood and hang the May Baskets on our neighbor's doorknobs ring their doorbells, and hide. We never hid very well, though, because we were always giggling.
It was great fun, but I don't think kids do this anymore. Too Dangerous? How sad is that? I think it is an old custom well worth reviving.
